Tricity is now home to many Iranians and their number is increasing every day. This country has the second largest Iranian population after North Vancouver.

In addition to those moving to Tricity from North Vancouver for the cheaper cost of living, many newcomers and refugees choose Tricity as their home base. Business owners found Tricity's booming economy a place to invest. It was time to organize and have one voice for all. The need for an organization to keep Iran's culture, art and literature alive was the reason for the establishment of Tricity Iran Cultural Association. Of course, there were few community organizations in North Vancouver, but nothing was happening in Tricity.

TCICS investor researched how to register the association. Meeting after meeting, TCICS investors arrived at their first general meeting. They drafted bylaws in accordance with the BC Society Act and registered the association in August 2008. During its 6 years of operation, TCICS has gone through many ups and downs and like many other newly established organizations, it has struggled with various issues and problems. However, recognition was gained by city officials and community members. The number of members gradually increased, few projects were started and strategies were cleared.

TCICS has been working hard to keep Iran's heritage, art, literature and customs alive and to ensure that the society at large gets to know about it all. TCICS celebrates Iranian events such as Nowruz, Yalda, Mehrgan, and in 2013, for the first time, it was successful in holding the Wednesday Suri celebration in Tricity. TCICS is proud of its success in being recognized by government officials. In 2011, TCICS managed to raise $6,000 in donations to open a Persian section at the Coquitlam Public Library with 2,000 book volumes by Atefeh Sarafi. In 2012, TCICS received a grant of $2,000 for Nowruz celebration from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, in 2013, it received a total of $13,400.00 in financial aid from the Spirit of City of Coquitlam for Wednesday Suri and Nowruz celebration, and was nominated by the Ministry of Nasakai A It became an international award
